Day 1…In the Books!

Park City Pitches...A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words.

And what a great day it was!  The weather was perfect, no “major” thunderstorms anyway.  The fields, well, the fields were awesome – Perfect Pitches Everywhere.

You can check out some additional images of day one on the Park City Extreme Cup Facebook Page.

Here is the image of the day, from my camera anyway

And We Are Off…Welcome the PCX Cup 2010!

Good Morning and welcome to the 2010 Park City Extreme Cup 2010, we are going to have a wonderful tournament!  We wanted to post a couple of things for you as we get underway here.

Newpark Hotel, located in Redstone Village - Park City, UT

The first thing we want to talk about is the FREE concert tonight at Newpark at the Plaza outdoor Amphitheater.  The weekly events are a locals favorite and tonight will feature The Speedbumps!  The show starts at 6PM and will rock on until 8PM, make sure to get there a little early to find a place on the grass.

  • The second thing we wanted to discuss is TRAFFIC.  With 262 teams in town along with Park City’s regular traffic, make sure you plan plenty of time to get to your games.  Hot spots:
    • Kearns Drive near TMIS (tunnel construction on Route 248) – This will impact the North 40 / TMIS venue.  If possible, use Hwy. 40 to get to/from this venue.
    • Highway 224 (paving operation) – This is the main road between Kimball Jct. and Park City.  The road is being resurfaced but construction is limited to evening and night hours (6pm-7am).  Traffic should be good during the day.
    • Bonanza Drive (major construction) – This road is not used to access any fields, however don’t use Bonanza as a connector in or out of Park City.
    • Kimball Junction (congested area) – This area can get quite busy during morning and afternoon commuter traffic.
    • Saturday (Main Street and old town) – The Park City Arts Festival brings a ton of traffic to town so plan extra time for all games after 10am.

Please be aware, the tournament schedule is tighter than usual this year (90 minutes between most games).  Please arrive early and be ready to field-check and start games on time.  As usual, always check online for the most current and accurate schedule: https://www.gotsport.com/events/?EventID=9430.

Trash / Recycling – Please help keep Park City clean and beautiful.  Clean up your sideline area after games.  There are trash and recycling bins at every venue.

Have a great tournament.
